Minor Surgery Audit 2012-13

Narrowcliff Surgery - Minor Surgery Audit:

 

Date of Audit:  1st April 2012-31st March 2013

 

The practice collects and records the minor surgery information for the following procedures:

 

 Injection

 Incision

 Excision

 

The procedures are performed by Drs Ingle, Kersh, Stephens, Randell, Jones and Lee.   A report was produced from the clinical system and a review of the data was undertaken.

Discussion:

 

During the period there were 316 minor surgery events.

 

All 9 incisions have healed well and there were no post operative infections.

 

Of the 126 excisions 15 (12%) involved carious types of skin cancers.  All of these were expected. Each case has been reviewed by the GP who performed the procedure and the appropriate 2 week referral has been made.  

 

There were no post operative infections with the exception of toe/finger nail and sebaceous cysts, which were infected prior to the procedure being carried out.
