Introduction
Welcome to our health advice and wellbeing centre. We have bought together a number of local and national resources to support your health and wellbeing. We have included NHS content and a selection of tools for health checks.
We know that how we eat, sleep, feel and what we do affects how our our wellbeing. Research shows that up to 80% of GP consultations involve health conditions that can be influenced by our lifestyles; for example Type 2 diabetes, hypertension, high cholesterol and obesity. We know that lifestyle interventions can improve and sometimes even revese these chronic health conditions. This information and our practice team are here to support you
WATERGATE PCN SOCIAL PRESCRIBING NETWORK
Watergate Primary Care Network is made up of three GP practices working collaboratively to provide for around 45,000 patients in the mid-Cornwall area. It covers the stretch of coast from Newquay to Padstow and inland as far as Indian Queens and Fraddon. Recognising that people’s health is determined by a range of social, economic and environmental factors, the Network have invested in building a Social Prescribing Service. As part of this, the Health Connections Directory has been created, detailing groups and support in the community that might help you improve your health and wellbeing.
Counselling Services and Mental Health support
The NHS Cornwall and Isles of Scilly Talking Therapies Service is a free, confidential service for people aged 16 years and over who are registered with a GP in Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly. They provide treatment for common mental health difficulties such as low mood, stress, and anxiety. You can refer yourself to this service without support from your GP
